Microgaming in Guinness Books for biggest jackpot payout

Microgaming officially enters the Guinness Book of world records for the title of ‘Largest jackpot payout in an online slot machine game’.

This news should come to no surprise as the massive Mega-Moolah win by UK player Jon Heywood has been all over the headlines for sometime and now it is official. The £13,213,838.68 (AUD 27,019,657.33) jackpot win by Chershire soldier Heywood is the single highest payout ever in the history of online gaming. This massive win that made Heywood a millionaire was a 25p bet made on Mega-Moolah in Betway casino.

After thorough confirmation with both Betway and Microgaming, along with ratification from eCOGRA, the Guinness World Records has confirmed the win in its books. This accolade will be shared between Microgaming, the operator Betway and the winner Jon.

A spokesperson for Guinness World Records comments: “I’m pleased to confirm that the Guinness World Records title for the largest jackpot payout in an online slot machine game is €17,879,645.12, which was won by Jonathan Heywood, while playing Microgaming’s Mega Moolah on Betway’s website. And Jon is certainly in the moolah now, thanks to his exceptional stroke of luck.

Roger Raatgever, CEO of Microgaming, adds: “When news broke about Jon’s amazing jackpot win back in October, we were overjoyed – what an incredible and heart-warming story. We’ve achieved many industry records over the years, but to be officially awarded a Guinness World Records title is a special and proud moment for us all. It cements our position in providing the largest and most exciting progressive jackpot network in the industry. We can’t wait to hang the certificate in our office reception!
